Mark Golden on Paint

We are gearing up for our second year of the Golden Foundation Artist Residency and looking forward to a full complement of artists to join us to share our new painting studios and apartments. We are getting ready for the group show “Made in Paint” including our inaugural year Residents running from mid-April and continuing through this summer at our gallery space at Golden Artist Colors, the SAGG. The show is a wonderful tribute to the seven incredibly talented artists that had joined us at the Residency in 2012 including: Jennifer Ann Norman, Ontario, Canada; Erin Treacy, Sunnyside, NY, Mel Prest, San Francisco; Karima Klasen, Stuttgart, Germany; Elizabeth Blau, Philadelphia; Lynette Stephensen, Hamilton,NY, and Kevin Witzke, Vancouver, Canada. We are looking forward to them joining us at the opening. It should be a great party!

This year we are also readying the space for both acrylic and oil painters and I do believe some artists will also be working in encaustics. We are looking forward to their company and the collaboration between painters and paint-makers as we build upon the successes of our first year. As I’m watching the snow gently settle on this beautiful rolling landscape, I’m hoping that next year we are able to open the Residency year round. There is a quiet that the winter up here fashions that makes it the most wonderful time to create.
