Cleaning up our piece of the world

31 May, 2011 (08:51) | General

Last week, about 90 of our staff members volunteered a couple hours each, to clean up all of the roads within our small community of Columbus, NY. This is no small feat to clean up all 45 miles of road, but many hands made the work a success. We’ve been doing this annual clean up for about 5 years now and the good news is that there were actually fewer bags of garbage picked up from the roadside. If you’ve visited this area, and were inspired by the beautiful rolling green landscape, you’d wonder why anyone would be spoiling this rural splendor. It would be a great day when we no longer had to do this annual event and were able to spend the time on creating in the environment instead of relieving the environment of our thoughtlessness. But then again, I think everyone felt a great sense of pride and accomplishment that we could be a part of something both small and yet profound for our little piece of the world.
