Blues Busters: February Art Play Day
Need a day to play and let go of those February blues? Join local artists Jessica Kovan and Lauren Everett Finn in this fun, collaborative, fast-paced day of art play and camaraderie especially designed to beat the February blues! Beyond the comedic routine of these two friends, you’ll also enjoy hands-on mixed media experiences, cookie eating (chocolate promised!), and simply a day of artful fun— all designed to beat those February blues. If you joined us before, we have new projects up our paint-covered sleeves this year, so don’t hesitate to sign up! All supplies included.

Art Journaling in the Gardens
Immerse yourself in the magic of the gardens with Michigan artist Jessica Kovan. Observe the living world with curiosity and attention and celebrate the gardens while bringing your love of the outdoors into your art journal. Join in and learn about establishing (or enhancing) your art and nature journaling practice in the beautiful environment of the Botanic Gardens. The focus of the workshop will be on experiencing and visually expressing our curiosity about plants and nature, not about making detailed botanical art. After a brief orientation and warm-up activities you will have hands-on observation and drawing time in the gardens. Through prompts you will be encouraged to ask questions and make deeper connections to the experience of the gardens. Jessica will be available for questions and individual instruction throughout. The group will reconvene toward the close of the workshop to talk about our experiences and learn from each other. All skill levels welcome; no prior experience necessary. The workshop will be held rain or shine. Come enjoy the beautiful botanical garden setting! All supplies will be provided. Please note, weather permitting we will be painting and art journaling in the gardens. If you wish to bring a chair to sit on, please do so.
