Summer Vibes
Hot colors, cool shadows, shimmery water, and lush tropical vibes burst to life in this 3-day summer mixed media workshop! Join Frances for a plein air to studio workshop exploring all the elements that supercharge summer scenes. FIrst, she’ll lead you on a short inspirational walk and sketchbook session outdoors where we’ll collect references, sketches, texture and color swatches. Frances will discuss observing nature from light, form, and color to texture, and composition for painting. We’ll cool off in the Studio with light refreshments and an afternoon painting session where we’ll construct compositions from our gathered ideas and references. On day 2, Frances will demonstrate a variety of watermedia techniques to add interest to your paintings. She’ll help you build a vibrant and lush composition. The final day of the workshop, we’ll complete our paintings and finish with an instructor-led critique. Some materials will be provided, including QoR watercolor sample cards for a color mixing exercise. A full supply list will be provided upon registration.

Splash Books
Join Frances in her Studio for Splash Books! What can you do with the prints you create on a gel plate? In this follow-up workshop, Frances teaches you to use the gel prints and techniques from the gel printing workshop in a fun aquatic-themed Splash book! We’ll use existing prints, new prints, and additional techniques to construct a beautiful book. She’ll lead an exploration of color, texture, composition, and layering along the way! Hand drawn lettering, illustration, and other embellishments will also be introduced. We’ll also print our own custom covers for the books. All supplies are included. Experience gel printing is required. Students are encouraged to bring their favorite make-making tools and textures. Seating is limited for this hands-on workshop.

Gel Print Workshop
Learn and explore monoprinting techniques using Gelli® Arts Printing Plates in this hands-on workshop. Add texture and interest to your printmaking, collage, art journaling, painting and mixed media projects. Supplies provided, for use during the workshop: Gelli® Arts Printing Plates in several sizes and shapes, bond and watercolor paper, Golden Open Acrylics and Fluid Acrylic Paints in assorted colors, Golden Gesso and Matte Medium, Brushes, Texture/Mark-Making Tools and Stencils.
