Annie O’Brien Gonzales was born and raised in Oklahoma and lived in Santa Fe,
NM for many years. She now lives in Loveland, Colorado. She received BS and MS degrees from the University of Oklahoma and a PhD in Higher Education from the University of Northern Colorado. She also studied for a BFA majoring in painting and art history at Oregon State University. Annie has always loved drawing and all types of creativity. Her artistic influences span a broad range including Henri Matisse and David Hockney.
Through her role as Docent at the Georgia O’Keeffe Museum, she developed an
intense interest in American Modernist painters. She is attracted to images of the
natural world and enjoys painting in oil, acrylic, and mixed media. She has recently
focused on the allure of still life. Her work has appeared in numerous shows throughout
the West and is in private collections across the country. She teaches students to paint expressively across the US and Canada.
