Winter Landscapes workshop
Exploring colour and tone to create a dramatic painting, inspired by trees, light and Winter landscapes. Working with a limited colour palette of acrylics, you will gain a greater understanding of the use of harmonious colours in the landscape. Learning how colour interacts, using subtle mixing and utilising glazing techniques to create depth and capture the light, will help you to confidently complete a stunning landscape painting. Suitable for all abilities, including beginners. It will be an exciting and challenging day with a small group of artists.

Paint Like an Artist workshop
Learn the artist’s habit of creating art on paper for daily practice, for pleasure and to develop ideas for paintings. Discover how to create mixed-media sketches which can be developed into a series of exciting paintings. Fed up with not achieving what you want with your paintings? Using my artist’s process you will take away the pressure and enjoy pushing your ideas further, simplifying and developing your initial ideas to produce something to be proud of. Create several studies on paper and a finished painting; a gestural seascape, harbour scene or holiday memories of your choice, using acrylics. Beginners and more advanced painters will find this an exciting way to paint.

In this workshop, we’ll take the classic still life with flowers or fruit and give it a contemporary twist with punchy colour, deliberate brushmarks, collage and palette knife techniques. The more advanced may wish to explore the shapes within a composition, pushing into simplicity and abstraction. This is a perfect subject for everyone to develop techniques, understand colour more acutely and get to grips with composition.

Incredible Ink & Mixed media
This fun and action-packed workshop will take you on an exciting adventure with inks, collage & mixed media. In an experimental way, we will create bold and exciting studies on paper, working from reference in the Farnham Pottery loft. I will demonstrate a range of dynamic techniques in varied media including wax resist, salt, bleach, and collage. The workshop will broaden your range of skills and encourage a fresh and experimental approach. These exciting ideas will explore using ink, watercolour and high flow acrylic and are excellent for loosening up and everyday sketching. Suitable for all levels.

Unlocking The Abstract workshop
Free up your painting style by exploring exciting abstract painting techniques, through a series of exploratory studies and exercises on paper. This will help you to simplify your work, whilst improving your understanding of mark-making, layering, tone and composition. You can use the workshop as a chance to purely experiment and/or work towards creating an abstract painting using acrylics, pastel, pencil and collage. You’ll gain a better understanding of abstract concepts and develop a more confident approach. We will create several studies on paper to help you work freely and explore new ideas. The fast workers may wish to produce a more finished painting in the afternoon, but the studies provide everyone with a wealth of ideas for future paintings. It will be an exciting and challenging day!

Unleashing Your Brushstrokes workshop
Free your ideas, learn new painting techniques and loosen up. Focusing on brushwork, application of paint and colour, with reference to the impressionists and abstract expressionists. Create a painting with life and vitality, inspired by nature, water or seascapes. Learn to free up your painting style by exploring exciting brushmarks and painting techniques, through a series of exploratory studies and exercises on paper, before creating a final painting. You may choose to work in an abstract style or take a more impressionist direction, but this process will help you to simplify your composition, whilst improving your understanding of mark-making, layering, tone and colour, using acrylics and mixed media. Best suited to more confident painters, but everyone with enthusiasm is welcome. It will be an exciting and challenging day with a small group of artists.
